School Bus Agreement

Each student’s safety is of great importance and top priority to Diamond Charter School. In order to maintain a safe commute to and from school on the school bus, students are expected to abide by the following school bus rules and regulations: 

  1. Students must follow all bus safety procedures, as stated by the bus driver or aide
  2. Students must board and exit the bus by walking and holding onto the railing 
  3. Students must take their assigned seats immediately and remain in their seats with seatbelts on at all times. 
  4. Students must be polite and courteous to the bus driver, aide, and other students on the bus. Bullying will not be tolerated.
  5. Students are not permitted to stand or walk while the bus is in motion. 
  6. Students are prohibited from tampering with bus equipment, doors, windows, gears, etc. at any time. 
  7. Students are prohibited from touching other’s property (i.e. bookbag, lunchbox, jacket, etc.) 
  8. The bus driver reserves the right to move a student’s seat if that student is acting in a disruptive manner. 
  9. Students must follow the code of conduct as described in the Parent/Student Handbook. 
  10. The following behaviors will not be tolerated and could result in removal from the bus, temporarily or permanently:
    1. Throwing objects
    2. Eating, drinking, or chewing gum
    3. Pranks
    4. Fighting, tripping, shoving, cursing, yelling, or shouting

When a student chooses not to abide by the school bus rules, the steps for consequences will be as follows: 

  •  First Violation: The student will receive a warning, which will include a phone call home to the parent/guardian by school personnel. 
  • Second Violation: The student will be suspended from bus privileges for two (2) school days
  • Third Violation: The student will be suspended from bus privileges for five (5) school days
  • Fourth Violation: A meeting will be held with the parents to determine whether the student can continue having bussing privileges. 

Note: The student is required to attend school on the days of bus suspension. Absences during bus suspension will not be counted as excused absences. The parent must make all necessary arrangements to make sure that the student attends school. Riding the school bus to school is a privilege, not a right. For that reason, students are expected to abide by the school bus rules and regulations. 

My child and I have read and discussed the school bus agreement and rules. We understand that riding a school bus to school is a privilege and may be revoked if school bus rules are not followed.
